HOT HOT CARS

So it's not a car...Phil Gonwa of Alstom Power, Knoxville TN, is pleased to share his prowess in propelling his 2-cylinder 2007 RansXP recumbent "vehicle". Phil says the 2-year old vehicle moves along pretty well with the 50-year-old engine! He also has a 4-cylinder 1993 Trek T100 that is propelled by a PAIR of 50-year-old engines (think I would have left that last part out, Phil!)

My
grandfather bought this truck new and gave it to me several years ago.
I am 53
years old and I have been driving this truck since I was 15 and actually learned
how to drive in this vehicle. I have gone through 5 engines, 4 transmissions and
2 rear ends in the past 38 years I have learned to take a little better
care of it since I have to pay for repairs now! It has a 350 engine, with
a 4 barrel carb and 4 speed in the floor and will still do over 100 miles an
hour as of last Weekend.
I still
feel like a kid when I fire it up with the open headers and go blasting down the
interstate.--Yehaw what a rush -----
My wife
says that I will probably die in this ol truck, but we all have to go
sometime--ha ha
Submitted by Chris Forrer, on assignment at Shepherd Engineering, Atlanta GA area. Chris says this is a Swift DB4 Formula Atlantic race car, built by Swift Engineering in California. They build this type of race car, aircraft, and drones. It weighs 940 pounds dry. Powered by a specially prepared electronically fuel injected 4 cylinder Toyota engine developing around 250 horsepower at 10,500 rpm, it does around 160 mph. Thanks to being employed by TechPlus/Sheppard Engineering I was able to contest and win the South Atlantic Road Racing Series in it this year.
